Many months passed since the last time I wrote on this blog.  I stalled due to the fact that the people who the last story was about forgot almost everything that happened at Zermatt!  There are other snippets that will be posted later regarding this story but for now I must restart this blog.

Since the last post, I joined a writer’s group where we critique bit and pieces of the books we are writing.  It has been nothing but an eye opener!  I write many things for my work, grants, education plans, justifications but that is a completely different writing than what is needed for a novel, especially a good novel.

I have been working on outlining my book and the group will be helping me discover the arc of the story.  For this old mathematician, writing is hard.  Latest paragraph:

Heinrich knew he couldn’t show the Russian where he lived.  The motorbike wasn’t traveling quickly and a familiar alley was up ahead.  In a flash, he jumped off the back, bread under his arm, running over bricks and rebar towards the darkness that promised safety.  Heinrich glanced back, seeing the soldier stop, but continued running through the ruins towards his mother never losing his footing or the bread.
